Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. Following the time her father's departure from the family, she was raised up by her mother grandparents, and godparents. As a child Ford was diagnosed with an obsessive-compulsive disorder and suffered anxiety linked to associations with words. Ford was intrigued by the field of acting during her teenage years and she became a member of the National Youth Theatre. She was admitted to Sylvia Young Theatre School but after one week decided she didn't fit in. Ford applied again for admission to the Central School of Speech and Drama and on her fourth attempt, she was finally accepted. Shaun Dingwall played Pete Tyler on Doctor Who. Ford didn't finish her studies until 1993. But, by 1991, Ford had made her first television appearance in a show called Surgical Spirit. At that point, Ford adopted the stage name Catherine Tate. Tate was a part of such TV shows such including The Bill, Men Behaving Badly as well as London Burning. Tate was a regular performer on stage, and joined the Royal Shakespeare Company's 2000-2001 season. Tate's stand-up comedy that she started adding to her show in the year 1996, was soon gaining the attention of her peers.
